Cookie policy

What are cookies?

A cookie is a file downloaded to your computer when you visit certain websites. Among other things, cookies allow a website to store and retrieve information about a user's browsing habits or about their device and, depending on the information they contain and on how you use your device, they may be used to recognise an anonymous user.

Cookies are linked only to an anonymous User and their computer, and do not provide any reference from which the User's personal data could be inferred.

In the case of registered Users who sign up or log in, they may benefit from more personalised services tailored to their profile, thanks to the combination of the data stored in cookies with the personal data used when registering. Such Users expressly authorise the use of this information for the stated purpose, without prejudice to their right to refuse or disable the use of cookies.

Types, purpose and operation of cookies in general.

1. Types of cookies according to how long they remain active.

According to how long they remain active on the terminal device, we can distinguish:

Session cookies: a type of cookie designed to collect and store data while the user is accessing a website.

They are generally used to store information that only needs to be kept in order to provide the service requested by the user on a single occasion (for example, a list of purchased products).

Persistent cookies: a type of cookie in which the data remains stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the party responsible for the cookie, which may range from a few minutes to several years.

2. Types of cookies according to who manages them.

According to who manages the device or domain from which the cookies are sent and who processes the data obtained, we can distinguish:

First-party cookies: those sent to the user's terminal device from a device or domain managed by the publisher itself, and from which the service requested by the user is provided.

Third-party cookies: those sent to the user's terminal device from a device or domain that is not managed by the publisher, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

3. Types of cookies according to their purpose.

According to the purpose for which the data obtained through cookies is processed, we can distinguish between:

  • Technical cookies: those that allow the user to browse a website, platform or application and to use the different options or services available on it, such as controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items making up an order, completing the purchase process for an order, applying to register for or take part in an event, using security features while browsing, storing content for video or audio streaming, or sharing content through social networks.
  • Personalisation cookies: those that allow the user to access the service with some predefined general characteristics based on a series of criteria on the user's device, such as the language, the type of browser used to access the service, the regional settings from which the service is accessed, and so on.
  • Analytics cookies: those that allow the party responsible for them to monitor and analyse the behaviour of the users of the websites to which they are linked. The information collected through this type of cookie is used to measure the activity of websites, applications or platforms and to build browsing profiles of the users of those sites, applications and platforms, in order to introduce improvements based on the analysis of how users use the service.
  • Advertising cookies: those that allow the publisher to manage, as effectively as possible, the advertising spaces it may have included on a website, application or platform from which it provides the requested service, based on criteria such as the content published or how often the adverts are shown.
  • Behavioural advertising cookies: those that allow the publisher to manage, as effectively as possible, the advertising spaces it may have included on a website, application or platform from which it provides the requested service. These cookies store information on users' behaviour obtained through ongoing observation of their browsing habits, which makes it possible to build a specific profile and show advertising based on it.
